robert_parker Posted June 10, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted June 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I almost hate to ask but when you switch on your D2 and instead of an image get vertical coloured lines, both on the screen and on the EVF - does it mean what I think it means... Guest flatfour Posted June 10, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted June 10, 2007 Robert - Same as mine. The sensor has gone. It should be replaced FOC by Solms. Takes about six weeks. You can send it direct or via Milton Keynes.

d_lague Posted June 11, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted June 11, 2007 My LC-1 is in the Panasonic hospital out in Chicago for the same thing. I have spoken to them on the phone a few times, but they have still not even evaluated it after 2 weeks. luckily, I have my new L1 to keep me company. ron110n Posted June 12, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted June 12, 2007 Robert, Â It's the sign of the time... Time to shop for a D3 or L1. Â That's what I did after I saw the pin-stripes on my D2 LCD display. But I have a strange feeling that Leica and Panasonic did this in purpose. Smart marketing strategy... huh. Â -Ron
Guest Metroman Posted June 12, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted June 12, 2007 Out of interest - my D2 is still OK - are they repacing the sensor with exactly the same unit or is there now a better sensor they are using as a replacement?

spylaw4 Posted June 12, 2007 Share #8  Posted June 12, 2007 wonder if we need a dead D2 databasesee if there is any continuity with #s  Well we know that Panasonic have published the list of their serial numbers they believe to be faulty.  How about we D2 users state our serial number and whether it is faulty, has been faulty or is so far ok? Or is that tempting fate?
Riley Posted June 12, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted June 12, 2007 for the record, these are the LC-1 numbers
jonladd Posted June 12, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted June 12, 2007 I would like to know if the replaced sensor will be prone to a problem in the future. I sure hope the replacement sensor is an improved version. JL
Riley Posted June 12, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted June 12, 2007 the duds were the result of an assembly fault when replaced you should be fine
TonySx Posted June 13, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted June 13, 2007 Ahhgggh! My D2 has just gone the same way. Since Milton Keynes is only 50+ miles away, I drove it over today. They told me the same as everyone else - about 4 - 6 weeks.... Â And I have a question regarding Panasonic Vs Leica. Given that my Leica is a little over 3 years old, if it had been a Panasonic would they still provide a new sensor under warranty? Or is this a case of getting a bit of extra value for buying a Leica in the first place?
Riley Posted June 14, 2007 Share #13 Â Posted June 14, 2007 some Panasonic agencies are, some are not some are looking for some cash to assist, I think Canada may be one of those there seems to be no cohesive global policy
