mikemgb Posted August 6, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had reason to print two large banners using photos taken with my D-Lux 109 this week. The original images were shot portrait in 16:9 format using jpg only. I scaled both images to 43" (1092mm) in Photoshop then cropped the height to 53" (1346mm) and printed both on an 8 colour wide format printer. I will say I was very impressed with the results, OK, you don't want to pixel peep from a few inches but when you stand back a couple of steps the images looked very clean and sharp. I have also printed some images on the same printer with no resizing, their native 100% size is 17" (431mm) on the short side and that produces some extremely sharp images. mikemgb Posted August 9, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted August 9, 2016 Following up, the photographs I printed were for one of my staff who works in a room with no windows. She asked if she could get windows, this is the best I could do. This little camera is capable of some very good results! Welcome, dear visitor! ralphh Posted August 10, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2016 I love the windows!! You'll have to produce an interchangeable set for he different seasons As for print quality, I dispare of all the on-screen pixel peeling that goes on. Print is so forgiving for any sensible viewing distance. Cameras surpassed the ability to produce a print of literally any size a long time ago. I'm fairly sure you could produce a billboard from a iPhone and at the distance you actually look at billboards it would look great. The only really large print application that I see regularly that get viewed up close are shop windows and in-store advertising boards. The image quality in some of those is astonishing and I assume are MF digital. The overall look of the file will always be important of course and it's great that you're getting such great results out of your d-lux. I suspect the photographer is as important as the camera here
Guest Posted August 21, 2016 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2016 The D lux 109 is an amazing camera. I have the Panasonic LX 100 version and regularly print A2 size with the Epson P800 and Image Print 10 software. More than satisfied with the end result.
