L plate for M R adapter

I bought a Leica adapter to use some R lenses on the M but the tripod foot does not rotate. I am thinking about using an arca swiss type L plate attached to the adapter in order to move from horizontal to vertical with some heavier lenses. If anybody is suing this set-up I would be interesting in knowing which L plate is used.

Thanks, Giulio

Just bumped into this thread.

It is a good question. M-R adaptor foot comes with a hole for a locking pin but nearest Arca-Swiss [A-S] plate with a pin is from Novoflex but the fit is somewhat loose. I use small A-S plate(don't recall the brand), about 35x40mm in size. Plate has a lip on the upper side which rests against the front of the adaptor foot and; (a) prevents rotation & ( B) keeps plate squared with the foot.

As for "L" plate Arca-Swiss makes wonderful universal plate but it is better suited to be attached to a camera and it works better with lighter lens. Have you considered flipping ball head to provide you with Landscape=Portrait change of orientation. Any heavy lens may cause slip between the plate and adaptor foot, it is only a single screw keeping everything in place.

Thanks, yes this is also what I did in the end, to go with a simple small plate, however flipping the ball head when using the 80-200 is far from convenient.
