Please help for AEL

I don’t understand AEL on my Leica (put on thumb button) ; I used Nikon which allowed memorisation ; so in a dark church, I pressed botton only once for several pictures.

Is it possible with the Q ?

 

I choice AF spot ; what is good ?

1- press button and release then shoot

2- press button without release and shoot (really difficult for my fingers)

You need to keep the button pressed for AE-L.

Yes, and this is a bug! I don't understand why Leica didn't change this under fw 2.0

Due to the non - sticky behavior of the button for AEL ... I prefer it set to AF-L then use 1/2 press of the shutter to set exposure.

 

So focus ... find the value for the exposure and 1/2 press shutter, then recompose ... focus still locked exposure locked and take picture.

 

My function button cycles exposure metering for those times I need a spot meter.

That's a good idea putting the metering mode on the FN button.   I currently have it set to self timer which I don't use all that often.
