hm1912 Posted June 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was wondering if any of you can suggest how I can remove some water marks from my photographs. The dark room that I use has a dryer and a bunch of my prints came out of this drying machine with what look like chemical residue spots. This has happened before and I was told that it's chemical residue on the drying rollers in the machine; these deposits are left by people who dry their prints before washing them thoroughly. I don't know if this is true, but what I do know is I've got some annoying water/chemical marks on my large prints and I want to remove these stains if possible. Any suggestions? Thanks! vic vic Posted June 9, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 9, 2007 hi ilan, wats up ya, that is correct, when the machines are not clean they leave that shit on prints. never use machines unless ur sure that they are well maintained. i suppose u made some RC prints. try to wash once again, maybe it will help. if it doesnt, not sure there is a way to fix it. print it again and never use machines. RC prints will be dry eassily, just wipe the paper gently from both sides (with jobo or kaiser wipers) and then hang them or just put them on something clean. 15 mins and it is dry by itself and super clean:))) if it is FB print, harder to wash that shit, almost impossible. again, never use machines - surely not the RC drying ones. if u use the heaters/bakers of FB paper - make sure that both surfaces are super super-x10 clean (both the metal and the cloth). I've heard from others the evils of the drying machine, but i'm not sure how i can transport wet negatives from the dark room to my flat. vic vic Posted June 10, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 10, 2007 wait wait, marks on negative or print/paper ? negative - if there is negative drying cabinet then better wait untill it is dry in the cabinet - cabinets supposed to be dust free. papers - u can take them wet. keep them wet and put them into something, and when home, wipe them (even with your hand) and put them flat for drying on something clean. again - i suppose those are RC papers. If chemical stains I guess you could try soaking them for a day or so and see if they come out. If they are water marks you could use a waterflow and hang them to dry after re soaking and try to get them to dry top to bottom as they hang.
