Does anybody prefer the IQ of 006 over 007?

I prefer the default 006 look to the default 007 look. I didn't spend enough time with the 007 to see if I could adjust its profile in LR. If they were closer in price, I'd have the 007. I love the Q, so I'm not worried about Leica and CMOS.

My friend who shoots celebrities for a living prefers the 006, but he used an S2 for years and is used to its processing. He always shoots the 006 with lights, and uses an SL for anything needing higher ISO. I think he'd be just as happy if an 007 fell in his lap.

My 2 cents,

Matt

No. I have both and don't find any noticeable difference in file rendering at lower ISOs. At higher ISOs, I obviously prefer the 007.

David Farkas has developed LR presets for both the 006 and 007 that really bring the files to life. I am sure he will share the secret sauce!

Where can we find the presets???

To expand a bit:

I don't know whether the person who finds them different and distinctive actually owns both concurrently. I do, and I don't find a visibly appreciable difference at lower ISOs. On the other hand, perhaps he, like me, does own both concurrently, but his eye is finer than mine. I can only report my own impressions.

Also: I profiled my cameras using the X-Rite color checker. Perhaps the fact that I'm using these custom profiles "flattens" any inherent difference between the two.

Last: I too would like to know where to find the Farkas presets.

I prefer CCD (006) for studio and portraiture work. Skin tones look more natural and noise/grain is just beautiful.

S007 is a good system for all type of applications including fashion and architecture. In addition live view is a plus for focus accuracy when I shoot landscape.
