Hi guys,

my M-P240 would have under exposed images with an additional sound, this only happens with advanced metering and not classic. This happens even not in live view. I am about to send it to Leica, but would like to know if there is a way to resolve without doing so.

I shot a video to explain the situation, please take a look and give your advise, thanks!

The problem happens at around 2:40

Sleepylamp,

The sound your camera is making is very similar to the sound my camera made when it was recording black frames (in classic metering in RF mode) - Leica replaced the shutter. Do a search for 'black frames' for the M240 and M246 - there's more than one thread and happens also with the monochrome camera following firmware update to the latest version for that particular model.

By the way, did you only notice this AFTER loading the latest firmware 2.0.3.0, ie it was working normally with 2.0.2.5? Unfortunately there is no way of rolling the firmware back to an earlier version to see if the firmware is the cause.

Thank you guys, they are going to send me a shipping label. But I think the turn around time is around a few months for now. Hopefully replacing the shutter or whatever they think is proper would work and it will not break again.

I did only noticed the problem after updating the firmware 2.0.3.0, but I am not sure if this is caused by that. The camera was stuck at some point and I had to pull the battery, that could also be the reason. But my memory is bad, not sure exactly where it broke.

Thanks,
Wen

I don't think edwardkaraa has watched the video. It is not normal, your camera needs to meet its maker.

Yes, sorry, I did watch the video but not all the way until the dark frame happened. My bad. Definitely needs a visit to Leica.
