Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted July 1, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 1, 2016 Unfortunately Scotland showed its ugly head all day today and rained all day. I managed a couple of shots and it feels amazing
Jeff S Posted July 1, 2016 Share #7 Posted July 1, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) As an alternative to AF peaking, try using the DOF readout on the top LCD to get ideal hyperfocal distance when in manual focus mode. It's one of the better enhancements with the 007 (and now on the SL). Jeff

Jeff S Posted July 1, 2016 Share #9 Posted July 1, 2016 David Farkas loves it....as he writes... "In MF mode, if you keep the shutter release button half-pressed while turning the focus ring, you will see a real-time indication of Front/Focus/Rear displayed in meters The middle Focus number is your actual point of focus and the front and rear distances correspond to your effective depth of field at that given distance, aperture and focal length combination. I don't even bother to use AF for many landscape shots. I just stop down to f/11, dial the focus until the rear number reads out at infinity and the front number is as close (low) as possible. For example, at 24mm and f/11, my hyperfocal setting is at 4.53m, giving me DOF from 2.33m to infinity. If I merely focused at infinity, I'd be tossing away most of my DOF. Jeff mate I tried this this morning and love it. It wouldn't work with my 120mm nor would the focus peaking so I guess the screwed up AF motor also effects these functions too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Focus peaking doesn't work on longer exposures!! From the manual "When using high ISO values and/or slow shutter speeds, the function may not work."
