fordfanjpn Posted June 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there an easy and reliable way to permanently attach an M-mount adapter to an L-mount lens? Don't worry, I'm not planning to mess with any vintage lenses, I was thinking more of the CV lenses. I hate dealing with the adapters to the extent that I won't buy any more CV lenses unless they're M-mount. So, other than simply not buying L-mount lenses, any suggestions? streetshooter Posted June 7, 2007 Share #2 Posted June 7, 2007 Maybe I'm dumb, not you....but once you put the adapter on, why would you take it off?

When you use the adapter, you have to unscrew the lens from the adapter to remove it from the camera, and then remove the adapter from the camera separately. I'd like to be able to remove the whole assembly as one piece. Bill

I don't find that the adapter comes off so easily as to make it an issue. I simply mount the adapter and leave it on. I have been told that a tiny dab of Locktite will really secure it, but I've found it to be unnecessary.

If the lens is tightly screwed into the adapter and one holds it the right way when unscrewing, the adapter dismounts from the camera and stays on the lens. Some do use loktite but if you decide to do that, I would use the weakest version. I haven't needed to try that myself. Cheers, Sean

I only have one L-mount lens right now, the Ultron 28/1.9 with the CV adapter. The adapter fits so tightly to the camera that it is impossible to remove the lens/adapter combination together. The adapter invariably stays on the body. If Loctite is an option, I'll give that a try. Bill

Bill Bill, I only have experience with canon EOS adapters, specifically one for an Oly 18/3.5 and one for Contax and I would suggest that you don't try Loctite unless you're sure that the adapter is not so tight tha tyou could do damage to the camera lens mount. Remember, in general the lens mount adapters haven't been engineered quite as precisely as the cameras. If you can, maybe try a different adapter first. Considering how tight the CV adapter is, I'll try another adapter before trying the Loctite. It does seem in general that the CV lenses are a tighter fit than any others I've tried.
