juppmain Posted May 30, 2016 Share #1  Posted May 30, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like to get a Summicron 75mm and will mostly use it for portraits. My Leica M2 has no 75mm framelines and I have a MP 0.58 on the way to me. I shot mostly with 35mm and 28mm lenses, I have a 50mm but I don't get used to this focal length (it is up for sale on the sales section of the forum right now)  My plan is to use the M2 for 35mm and the MP for 28mm. Can you share your experience with the 75mm framelines on a 0.58 body? Or would it be better to add 75mm framelines to the M2 (and remove the 50mm framelines)?  Thanks in advance for your opinions   Cheers, Jupp
Advertisement Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Hi juppmain, Take a look here 75mm Summicron with 0.58 Finder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tobey bilek Posted May 30, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted May 30, 2016 CV 75 mm finder. Â .58 will render the 75 mm image very small and hard to focus with a lens that is already hard to focus perfectly. Â There Karbe designs are made to have a very narrow plane of focus. Â The Aux finder will not help the focus, Â but will give you a better image for composition. Â Try an eyepiece magnifier. Â Ask Leica about the costs for the additional 75mm framelines to your M2 and perhaps you might prefer to buy an M6.085 (TTL). Â
Photon42 Posted May 30, 2016 Share #4 Â Posted May 30, 2016 I cannot comment on the 0.58 finder. However I can comment on using the 75 Summicron for portraits and using it with finders not having proper frame lines. The Summicron is fantastic for portraits. Not too difficult to focus (with my finder 0.72). I also use it on a ZI, which does not have 75 frame lines at all. Just remember the 75 frame lines on Leica bodies aren't exactly precise. So, I would use it with the M2 and learn to frame. It is not too difficult. Â Â Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
pico Posted May 30, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted May 30, 2016 I tried a 75mm on a .58 finder with a 1.4 magnifier and it was fine in daylight but too dim for other work. It still might be okay for younger eyes.
