MEB Posted May 25, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is an HDR photo created from 3 shots with my SL. This was my first experience taking bracketed shots with the SL. I was surprised at how fast the camera cycled the shots. It was machine gun fast! This was 3 shots at 1 ev separation with the camera in A mode, hand held. I have several programs for processing HDR; this one was produced using the new Aurora HDR program which seems to work very smoothly. I was very pleasantly surprised at the overall results. (the quality of the file is obviously reduced for publication here with the size limitations) Thanks, Mark Welcome, dear visitor! Peter Walker Posted May 25, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2016 That's one scary face in the cloud between the flag and the tree. Looks a bit like Voldemort in a bad mood.
MEB Posted May 25, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted May 25, 2016 Peter, I hadn't noticed that before your comment but since 1/2 hour after I took this shot we were hit with a torrential downpour, I think you are reading his mood correctly! ;-)
jrp Posted May 25, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 25, 2016 You may find that for such a picture you don't need HDR. In any case, it won't make that much difference unless you backet by 2-3 stops, and possibly more in v high contrast situations such as sunsets. helged Posted May 25, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2016 ...and may I add (or confirm) that the SL has quite a usable dynamic range, so shadows can be lifted quite a bit. In the attached example the exposure was set to barely preserve the highlights in the clouds, resulting in a raw file with nearly black shadows. The shadow slider in Lightroom (and similar options) do, however, add life to such scenes. For more extreme situations HDR may be used, but the SL sensor is able to capture many (most) harshly lit daylight scenes. Welcome, dear visitor!
