2024 and just found this forum post. I have the exact same issue as the OP. Curious, how did it resolve? I am packing this thing up and sending it to Leica for service now...

I would be very surprised if Leica Camera AG can resolve this for you ("no remaining parts" etc. is the likely answer).  You need an independent technician.

I also had this problem with a Canadian 35/2 v4. The lens would get out of alignment so the lens hood was cockeyed. This comes from grabbing the lens hood when removing the lens. The internal lens body on this lens is made from PVC plastic, which seemed like a good idea at the time. I don't know of a way to correct this other than constantly aligning the hood. One solution would be to use the hood for the earlier version 3 lens which is round, so you don't notice the hood being misaligned. This bothered me so much that I sold the Canadian v4 and got a German v4 35/2. The German version is made out of all metal and does not have this problem.

The only consolation is when you want to replace a broken or cracked focusing tab on the Canadian v4. Just unscrew the lens cell from the mount. You will see the screws inside the focus mount holding the tab in place. Take the screws out and install the new tab. The German v4 is a bit harder to work on.
