jeffnesh Posted May 6, 2016 Share #1 Â Posted May 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am planning on sending my Summicron-M 50mm to the repair site in Allendale, NJ, to have it 6-bit coded. I'm assuming this is the best approach to coding the lens. I inquired about the process through email and received info, but it's a bit sparse. Â If you've done this recently, what might the expected turnaround time be? I'm trying to plan around a few summer events and can't seem to pin them down on a timeframe. Â Thanks for any info... Â The best way to code a Leica lens is to do it yourself by swapping the mount.

If you've done this recently, what might the expected turnaround time be? I'm trying to plan around a few summer events and can't seem to pin them down on a timeframe.  Thanks for any info...   The last time I did it with Leica New Jersey was 2013. it took nearly 4 months, several hundred dollars for each lens, and several prompting emails from me. They had the lenses for nearly 8 weeks before they gave me a price quote.  I now use Don Goldberg (DAG Camera Repair) here in the US. He's quicker, and much less expensive. You can get a price quote by email, email address & FAQ are on his web site, dagcamera.com. Send your lens to Don, it will go into a 3-5 week long black hole, depending on how busy he is. If you need to expedite the repair, he can accomodate that usually if you ask up front. Then out of the blue, he will email you telling you the repair is done, and usually ship it out the same day if you pay with paypal. I've now had him 6-bit code two lenses, as well as perform several R and M lens repairs/adjuistments.  My 75 'lux was coded and focus 'calibrated' by Leica New Jersey (using the calibration word loosely); Don fixed the calibration on that lens too; causing me to move the lens from the "sell pile" to the 'keep until I die or go blind pile".
