The lens cannot be fully retracted as it would on a film M, but it does goes back far enough that the exposed barrel is covered by the base. I use a thick rubber hair tie wrapped around the steel barrel to keep it from hitting the raised portion of the camera interior that the sensor sits inside. That back portion of the barrel will leave a oily ring on that raised portion that can't be washed off if you let it touch. Can the 50mm f2.8 Elmar-M safely be collapsed into the Laica-SL?
