Jeff S Posted April 24, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted April 24, 2016 I don't own the SL, but the manual lists either 37 or 49 points for 'field' AF, the latter seemingly equal to the area for 'zone' AF. Â The largest field (or zone) covers, according to a review by Kristian Dowling, about 80% of the frame. Â Others with real experience may surely offer a different interpretation. Â Â Well, that's a good question. Up till now I was only using M-lenses with my SL, but now I also got 24-90. The lens is fantastic, but Leica's instruction book is plain terrible! Â Nr of fields is either 37 or 49, but when you switch to 1-Point one is suddanly able to chose 13 X 13 = 169 points and those points are placed all the way to the edge of frame. I do not see why to use fields? All my tests up to now show 1--Point focusing is best, fastest and most precise. Â ( I am still on fw 1.2Â - don't know what - if - anything in regard to this changed in ver. 2 ) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
