Advertisement Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Hi Albert Andersen, Take a look here Focus points. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeff S Posted April 24, 2016 Share #2 Posted April 24, 2016 I don't own the SL, but the manual lists either 37 or 49 points for 'field' AF, the latter seemingly equal to the area for 'zone' AF. The largest field (or zone) covers, according to a review by Kristian Dowling, about 80% of the frame. Others with real experience may surely offer a different interpretation. profus Posted May 10, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 10, 2016 What is the difference between the number of focus points between 1-Point and field. 1-Point goes without saying, but what area covers Field? Well, that's a good question. Up till now I was only using M-lenses with my SL, but now I also got 24-90. The lens is fantastic, but Leica's instruction book is plain terrible! Nr of fields is either 37 or 49, but when you switch to 1-Point one is suddanly able to chose 13 X 13 = 169 points and those points are placed all the way to the edge of frame. I do not see why to use fields? All my tests up to now show 1--Point focusing is best, fastest and most precise. ( I am still on fw 1.2 - don't know what - if - anything in regard to this changed in ver. 2 )
