Paulus Posted April 20, 2016 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) After 3 years I tried to make a video longer than 10 minutes. I had to record a student for a 50 minutes lesson and thought the M 240 would be a great option. I turned on the camera to " on " . Tipped the " on " film-button and the camera began to record. I let the camera hang on a fixed position in the assumption it would stay on recording, but it didn't. After 50 minutes I saw, that the camera only recorded 6 minutes. The second time I let the camera alone for 50 minutes, it only recorded 6 minutes. I tried it two times more, One time with the automatic shutdown on " of " but that did not seem to make a difference. Tried some times more , but I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. I used two 32 gb cards sandisk Extreme pro 95Mb/s and two full batteries. 200 asa automatic shutterspeed, 2,8 Elmarit-M 24mm lens. The battaries were still 88 % and the use of the SD was about 6 Gb. Please could you tell me what went wrong?

pop Posted April 20, 2016 Share #2 Posted April 20, 2016 I haven't the foggiest notion. If I had that problem, I would look at the recorded videos, particularly at the last minute that has been recorded, to see whether there was anything noteworthy going on. start a new recording under the same technical circumstances and watch the screen of the camera for any indication of a problem. check the rated speed of the card; the camera might overrun the card. re-format the card before use with the SDFormatter (not with a formatting function of the camera or the PC). STB Posted April 20, 2016 Share #3 Posted April 20, 2016 You're running into file size limits. There's a fair bit of discussion about it in the following thread from post #791: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/215101-what-do-you-want-in-the-next-digital-m/?p=2763029 Leica says that the M 240 is limited to the earliest of 4GB or 29 minutes. For heat reasons alone, it is unrealistic to expect the camera to run for 50 minutes.

Last recordings I made today an hour ago in an empty room. The last minute before shutting down, the camera was standing still in an empty room. The rate of the card 95Mb/s Formatted the card just now.
