XVarior Posted April 10, 2016 Share #1 Â Posted April 10, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello dears, Still getting used to the camera and I've already noticed that the camera lens rattles when shaken. It rattles no matter if the camera is on or off. If the image stabilization is on or off. Is this normal? Â Â www.rodriguezahr.com
Advertisement Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Hi XVarior, Take a look here Q lens rattles, is it normal?!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
kikouyou Posted April 10, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted April 10, 2016 Yes it is, that is the OIS system. When active the rattle stops. Do not worry about it and do not activate it unless absolutely need it. It use energy and may introduce mechanical noise in good lightning conditions (this is not proven by the way, just an assumption). Indeed in low light it can allow to gain a couple of iso steps for static subjects lowering the speed

Iduna Posted April 12, 2016 Share #4 Â Posted April 12, 2016 Yes, don' worry, Rodrigue! The OIS has its price for noise. The Q will be a great performer in your hands. I use it very often in low light situationen and Auto-ISO function or f I do not want to carry along a Tripod. I am really always surprised about th fine results. I wish you a great Start with this superb camera. I am just back from my travel to the City of Breslau in Poland wherecwecdid extensive Shooting during daytime and night. The Q was my main camera and the Nocticron on the Olympus EM 5.
Brilau Posted April 12, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted April 12, 2016 I noticed the same thing but when you leave the autofocus ring set to lock it seems to alleviate the noise.

XVarior Posted April 14, 2016 Author Share #7  Posted April 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed the same thing but when you leave the autofocus ring set to lock it seems to alleviate the noise. And or when the camera is ON, rattles stops. If I where one of the designer of this camera, I would have ditched IS and Video recording. the first makes no sense with a wide angle lens that shoots at 1.7, the later is simply USELESS.
