fahrenhyde Posted April 7, 2016 Share #2 Posted April 7, 2016 This is great news. Thanks for sharing. The dynamic distance information is indeed a wunderful update. I wonder whether the long time exposures are improved as well.
LeicaR10 Posted April 8, 2016 Share #3 Posted April 8, 2016 Leon B, Did the new software include the ability to change the "distance information" on the top display from meters to feet? That would be a most useful change too. r/ Mark
dfarkas Posted April 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted April 8, 2016 Leon B, Did the new software include the ability to change the "distance information" on the top display from meters to feet? erlingmm Posted April 8, 2016 Share #5 Posted April 8, 2016 Unfortunately, it didn't. It's about time the US goes metric ;-)
LeicaR10 Posted April 9, 2016 Share #6 Posted April 9, 2016 dfarkas and erliingmm, Thank you for the replies. How do we get Leica to enable the camera the ability to change the top cover display from Meters to Feet feature for the next S 007 software release? Minor change I know, but most helpful to us 007 users. It would be like adding the ability for different languages for the displays. Click the camera setup function button and you have the click menu offering display in "Meters" or "Feet". r/Mark
dfarkas Posted April 11, 2016 Share #7 Posted April 11, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) The question then becomes should they read out feet in decimal version (4.5 ft) or in feet and inches (4 ft 6 in)? The advantage of metric is that it is already based on multiples of 10. So 1.35 m corresponds to 135 cm or 1350 mm. It's easy to read at a glance. Not so cut and dry with imperial. LeicaR10 Posted April 11, 2016 Share #8 Posted April 11, 2016 dfarkas, Thanks for your reply. It wouldn't make that much difference; decimal version. I would prefer the decimal version. Leica could easily offer either or or all three versions. Question remains; How do you put a requirement forward so they will consider the improvement? r/ Mark
alan.y Posted April 11, 2016 Share #9 Posted April 11, 2016 Since both imperial and metric distances are indicated on the lenses themselves, it'd only be logical that the electronic display supported them too.
albertknappmd Posted April 11, 2016 Share #10 Posted April 11, 2016 Suspect that Leica representatives monitor this site but could send a message to customer service. I am sure that David can and will do same. Albert
LeicaR10 Posted April 11, 2016 Share #11 Posted April 11, 2016 For: dfarkas, alan.y and albertknappmd, Thank you for the comments. Alan.y, I agree with you on the distance reading on the top display for the readings to match the lens scales. Great idea, IMO. Albertknappmd, another great idea too. I will do that...maybe even send Stefan Daniel, Product Manager a suggestion via email. Maybe he will pass along to Stephan Schultz. David, any chance you would ask the Leica Rep if he could put in the request/requirement for the S007 top display have the ability to change from Metric to Imperial per the distance scales on the lenses in the next software release? Thank you. Maybe the Leica S monitor will note this request and pass it along for serious consideration for product improvement. r/Mark
LeicaR10 Posted April 13, 2016 Share #12 Posted April 13, 2016 I received a positive email reply from Herr Daniel, Leica Director of Product Management for the idea of converting the Top Display on the S007 between Metric and Imperial measurements. I just wanted to share the response. So keep your fingers crossed that Leica does this for us. Herr Daniel wrote: "Dear Mr. Christian, Thank you for your suggestion, this makes perfect sense. We will consider your idea for one of the next FW updates. All the best, Stefan Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards Stefan Daniel Leica Camera AG / Director Product Management Photo/ Am Leitz-Park 5 / D-35578 Wetzlar"
sdw Posted April 14, 2016 Share #13 Posted April 14, 2016 Can someone share some photos of the new camera settings icons? I've done some freelance work lately and it might've been something I designed. Would love to see it in-situ.
skimmel Posted April 26, 2016 Share #14 Posted April 26, 2016 Just checking in to see if people have had success with the new firmware without any problems. I have a couple of important shoots coming up and am always cautious about updating firmware. Thanks for any input you can provide.

skimmel Posted May 4, 2016 Share #16 Posted May 4, 2016 I think the software is too buggy. Mine is unpredictable and just not responding as one would expect. I have downloaded the various 3.0 builds of which there are at least three and yet it is terrible. Take a spare Canon or similar. This is rubbish Thanks for the info. What specifically are the bugs that are happening with the new firmware?

paul raeside Posted May 4, 2016 Share #18 Posted May 4, 2016 various features on the software not responding, such as mirror up, live view. Shutter speed indicator disappearing. Live view windows freezing. Computers are new and various, all leads new and USB 3 etc etc. NOT impressed.
