allan473 Posted March 28, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Either I am the dumbest person in the world or the sf 26 is very confusing. I can't get it to turn on. I sent it to Leica repair and 79 days later it comes back. They said there was no problem. So it must be me. I press button 1 in the image - mount it on the hotshoe and release button 1. Then I press button 2. I think the flash should turn on. I do this before and after I turn the Q on - no difference. I press 2 again, holding it for 10 seconds - nothing. I press ttl and set the Q for flash always on. I take several shots. However, the flash never comes on. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

allan473 Posted March 29, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted March 29, 2016 I know what you mean about it being difficult to tell which way th ebatteries go but they are in correctly.
allan473 Posted March 29, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted March 29, 2016 I had 6 "new" batteries in my pack and I did not think all could be bad. But they were. I bought a new set of batteries and all is fine.
Leica Guy Posted March 30, 2016 Share #5 Posted March 30, 2016 I thought button 2 was strictly a mechanical control of a pin the locks or releases it from the hot shoe. Am I mistaken? Agree on the batteries. Get a tester and ensure the batteries are good. Then make double sure they are put in correctly. Very easy to get wrong and zero feedback when you do. Good luck. Paul925 Posted March 30, 2016 Share #7 Posted March 30, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I invested in a set of Eneloop Pro batteries for that flash. Quick recycle and last pretty well.
fastcar888 Posted April 2, 2016 Share #8 Posted April 2, 2016 Agree regarding the batteries. I experienced the same challange. I am also of the opinion the flash is quite ordinary. A few weeks back I went to the Leica Store, and discovered that there are many others who share my opinion including those who worked at the store. The flash does not do a very good job of covering an area, has dark and lights spots, the TTL is mediocre, and overall it is not up to Leica standards (at least according to what myself and other believe). Candidly, I would not recommend it.
