MP-240 File numbering errors

I noticed a strange thing: my camera has reset its file numbers. Once I reached L1009999 it reset itself to L1000001. This was in the middle of a shoot, I have no user profiles, or anything like that. The SD card appears to be in order.

 

Does anyone else had a similar experience? I did search the forum most errors seems to be connected with user profiles.

 

I presume people have reached L1010000 ?

 

Is it just a bug in firmware?

That is the expected behavior, when you combine a stupid standard with a stupid implementation.

Yep I see the standard is stupid, up to XXXX unique designation for every directory. But I cannot imagine that it is beyond the abilities of a Leica programmer to overcome that!

 

Automatic counting, but only to 9999 - I think a very patient 7 year old can do better.

This happened to me also.

Had shot about 3500 images. Had not changed cards, no profiles loaded just a plain old m240.

 

Then out of the blue I start getting images tagged starting as image 300 ??!!???

 

Love the lenses hate the camera.
