Wondered if anybody else had noticed this.

My M Type 240 Black developed a problem where the frame lines were sticking. I was talking to the Leica Store SF people and they said it would have to go in for service and it could take a couple of months to get fixed. When they said 2 months, I said something like, "Wow 2 months, with the price of M's where they are. I should just buy one of your used ones and then sell it back to you when mine comes back." They responded, "or we can take your M in on trade and upgrade you to a M-P" Anyway, I thought about it for a few days and looked at their web site and I noticed that they no longer offer the black M 240 only the M-P.

Note that there is the M 262, the old M9 based M-E, and the M-P but there aren't any black non-P M's anymore. Previously, I've noticed that they don't not list things when they are out of stock, they only unlist them when they are no longer available. This makes me wonder if Leica has quietly discontinued the non-P version of the M type 240.

Anybody notice something similar at other stores?

PS Decided to take their offer and upgraded to a M-P. New, with warrantee slightly faster. a few less dings...I'll miss the red dot hiding under the electrical tape and in a couple of months someone will have the benefit of my nicely broken in M with hints of brassing due to my various adventures. I don't know how many shots it had when I got it but it was just starting to get broken in with just under 20,000 shots in just over a year.
