beauport Posted February 17, 2016 Share #21 Posted February 17, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found an article I was looking for about the Leitz table top tripod and large ball head. Tripods, large or small, are too often relegated to some type of burden accessory and so the best path is buying inexpensively as it won't make much difference. For my own purposes I prefer tripods which have proven their strength, both for safety and for truly reducing vibration and shake. pgk Posted February 17, 2016 Share #22 Posted February 17, 2016 I use these: http://www.fixationuk.com/Fixation/Fixation%20-%20Home/E57796DD-C71D-432B-A896-8E4B28909A10.html The OX Pro Mini with a Full Riser and Tripod head of your choice is as stable as anything can be and disassembles in seconds to store away. I bought mine yeas ago - brilliant item. (Not cheap). Sorry, just discovered that they are no longer made. Pity.
Universalb50 Posted February 19, 2016 Share #23 Posted February 19, 2016 If you can use equipment other than that "made by Leica", research the Bolex Paillard "Preying Mantis"...exquisite build quality.

Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted February 24, 2016 Share #25 Posted February 24, 2016 Thanks for all the feedback I ended up buying the Leica table top And it's pissing me off. No matter how tight I make the head up to the legs it just backs out very very easily. In other words I make the legs up to the head and then make the whole thing up to the camera and during that process of making the tripod up to the camera the legs start backing out.......... Is that the norm for this $300 table top tripod????

Is that the norm for this $300 table top tripod???? Not at all normal. Once snugged up, and simply hand held tight, it should stay locked firmly without any indication of loosening. If the tripod legs are not staying fixed to the ball head with just moderate tightening I'd take it back to the retailer.
