pico Posted February 6, 2016 Share #1 Â Posted February 6, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Call me a nutter, but do you think there is a market for the lens shade for the first 75mm Summilux and Noctilux f/1.1 (I think) lenses? I ask because I may be acquiring such a shade and just to vex the gods of rarity vs functionality I could make a batch of functionally identical shades in aluminum. Oh, I have done more foolish things. .
Advertisement Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Hi pico, Take a look here Shade: 75mm Summilux & F/1.1 Noctilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
duckrider Posted February 6, 2016 Share #2  Posted February 6, 2016 There is no 1.1 Noctilux, only 1.2, 1.0 & 0.95… So don't do foolish things not knowing the consequences. Thomas

Thomas  I messed up, Thomas. Thank you for your correction.  So, does anyone think there is a place for this lens shade at a significant discount that works for the V1 75mm Summilux as well as (whatever) Noctilux?  I can imagine a spoiler that reveals that no market-significant number of either lens was sold. Never mind the manufacturing metrics. 'Sold' is all that matters.

I'd be interested if you could design and produce a hood (shaped like the 12466) for the Noctilux 50/1.2 and the 35/1.4AA  This won't be a mass market item so you'll have to price it accordingly to make it worth your while  Or sell it just above your costs and earn admiration and brownie points
otto.f Posted March 5, 2016 Share #5  Posted March 5, 2016 Well I don't think so, not in the sense of 'market'. Try e-bay. My son recently bought a PONO, an audio-player based on an idea by Neil Young, that doesn't reduce quality of sound as it occurs with mpeg's in iPods etc. Steve Jobs wasn't willing to follow his idea. THe company that produced it, asked 400$ in advance, before they started to produce it. My son and others did that so that the production could start. After about two years he got the player.  You might follow that procedure on e-bay. I guess you know better than me how many 75lux's with separate hood Leica produced. Although some say that it is optically not different from the more recent version, it seems to be not such a popular version.
Herr Barnack Posted March 7, 2016 Share #6  Posted March 7, 2016 @pico,  Not to rain on your parade, but I use a 60-62mm step up ring and one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/11143-REG/B_W_65069676_62mm_Screw_In_Metal_Lens.html on my 50/1.0 Noctilux (#11 822). Works like a charm... I have an 11822 and thought all of them have the built in shade.  @pico,  Not to rain on your parade, but I use a 60-62mm step up ring and one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/11143-REG/B_W_65069676_62mm_Screw_In_Metal_Lens.html on my 50/1.0 Noctilux (#11 822). Works like a charm...
