rchrd Posted February 3, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sold the Leica X 113 and bought the Leica D-Lux 109. I am happy with the new camera and the tradeoffs. Both cameras will give you great results. What the Leica D-Lux 109 does better: -more "natural" colors -exposure compensation dial -more menu options for personal configuration -evf which helps when really sunny -range of focal lengths for different photo styles -much faster focusing -macro -4k! What the Leica X 113 does better: -Turns on faster, no extended lens -Better design and less intimidating to people -Handles flares like a beast. Hardly had any flaring ever. The 109 is very prone to flaring in comparison. -More detail and resolution in photos. -More simple. Menus and configuration are minimal, the way it should be. -More detail in bright highlights -Overall, just a better lens. Had no distortion, field curvature, chromatic aberration, color fringing, etc. -Bokeh is more pleasant and creamy. 109 is more gobs of goop rather than smooth creaminess. wda Posted February 3, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2016 A pity you could not keep both cameras. They pair quite well but leave you with both sets of advantages. Image quality usually wins with me.
