I meant to post this one some time ago. I have been using LC1 as a lightmeter for silly little Holga project on corner stores in my neck of the woods. You can see it here, if you really want to: BOJAN'S BLOG. I happen to like this photo. I always liked the way LC1 reproduces colours.

Bojan - lovely light and sky. I found your blog photos fascinating...a worthwhile record of a disappearing vernacular scene...over here they've all been taken over by the monolithic supermarkets. Thanks for showing.

cheers:

Sam

Thank you Dan. Sam, thanks for the compliment. It started as a kind of a joke. I would be driving around for various assignments and I usually have my Holga in the car so I started snapping the shots of corner stores. I always had a soft spot for them because they do seem like a throw back to another time. I think the biggest reason that so many of them are still around is the fact that there is a lot of poverty in Saint John, and people here still seem to have a notion of a neighbourhood in a Jane Jacobs sense of the world. That's disappearing, too, unfortunately. Massive mall developments on the city outskirts and chains like Wal-Mart are slowly but surly taking over.
