Advertisement Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Hi atwood1202, Take a look here m7 viewfinder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
doubice Posted June 1, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted June 1, 2007 Mark, Â My M7, serial 278XXXX had the older style finder. I belive yours could be the improved version, if what you are referring to is the RF patch white-out. Best would be to contact Leica New Jersey and find out, there was a cut-off point for the old finder, but it is not certain exactly when it occured. Â I had my M7 finder 'upgraded' at a cost of about US$250.00 and it definitely improved the white-out syndrome. Bear in mind though, that you will not be getting the MP finder, just an upgrade of the M7 one - not the same as the MP but definitely an improvement over my M6. doubice Posted June 1, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted June 1, 2007 The M7 finder upgrade is FREE of cost! Â It may be so in Germany, even though I doubt it. It is definitely not free in North America. Mark, the original poster, is from the US. Â This issue was discussed on the forum many times. Â Best, Â Jan

The finder upgrade was - or is - indeed free of cost here in Germany.  Well, living in Germany should have at least one advantage ;-)  Greg
harmsr Posted June 1, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted June 1, 2007 I no longer have the M7. However, mine was under "passport" and upgraded free of charge in NJ. Â Ray
xjr Posted June 1, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted June 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is the ...previous. I think the upgrades or new start from 2885xxxx but I am not 100% sure.
peter_n Posted June 1, 2007 Share #8  Posted June 1, 2007 However, mine was under "passport" and upgraded free of charge in NJ. Ray Mine too. Big difference.  Leica apparently don't assign serial numbers consecutively any more. They now use them in batches and one batch may (numerically) be older than another but used later. So a serial number may provide a guideline about whether a particular feature or fix is present but it is not definitive.
