Advertisement Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Hi stumac, Take a look here Thermal Stress in Lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wizard Posted August 2, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 2, 2006 Jesus, never seen something like that before. The lens element must have been under considerable stress by the mounting itself to crack like this on a relatively moderate change of temperature. Sadly, this means you will from now on have to stop down your lens to at least f5.6 or 8... Andy
stumac Posted August 2, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted August 2, 2006 This lens is part of a 1938 111A outfit given to me by a dear friend, one of the few things her late father was able to bring from eastern europe in 1944. It has had a hard life and probably had a bad knock at some time past. Taken with Digilux 2 and Elpro Regards, Stuart
