lensblur Posted May 31, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted May 31, 2007 From dealer, Â Apparently, Leica's new Chairman (since a couple of years, I think) decided to change strategy and increase prices. The 50 Noc is said to be increased by 50%. Other new coded lenses will increase as well. Â So I bought some new "old stock" lenses when I can
stunsworth Posted May 31, 2007 Share #4  Posted May 31, 2007 The Noctilux has more or less doubled in price since I bought mine in 2002. It's now over £3000 in the UK - that's approx 4500 Euros or $6000. Even a 50mm Summicron is pushing £1000.  I certainly wouldn't pay that much for a new Nocti these days. In fact both of my last two purchases - 24mm Elmarit and 75mm Summicon - have been bought used. Leica have priced themselves out of the new marketplace as far as I'm concerned. frc Posted May 31, 2007 Share #5  Posted May 31, 2007 It turns out I made the right decision buying two lenses ( 21 asph chrome, tri-e ) in the year before the launch of the M8. Dealers were panicking, Leica semt to be facing bankruptcy at that time and lenses were offered at ridiculously low prices. €1750 and €1800! Those were the days;-)
