Advertisement Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Hi chasmid, Take a look here Made in Brooklyn . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
becker Posted December 24, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 24, 2015 13 ` Mac book makes need to scroll to have a look here I would place it smaller. The processing is not my cup of tea. Kr M
A miller Posted December 25, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 25, 2015 I agree with Becker. It is a lovely photo without the extra PP around the man. It is so bad that there are halos around him. And his face is several zones lighter than it should be. I would start over from scratch and just try to make it natural looking. It will hold up just fine. Best, Adam
chasmid Posted December 25, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted December 25, 2015 Agreed, not a very good attempt at post-processing. Here's another try. This is just a straight B&W conversion in Silver Efex Pro. Welcome, dear visitor! lmans Posted December 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 25, 2015 I like the processing of the first photo better than second..... I must admit that sometimes when I work on my laptop, the view is different than from my 28" screen monitor....so Becker might have something there to consider. But the chap is looking at you with an odd expression as he struggles across the expanse of bridge, which leads the eye back.... Not a bad shot of action. chasmid Posted December 25, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted December 25, 2015 Thanks Imans! A Miller was correct about the haloing around the face and just to the back of the subject. I got sloppy. The second one looks flat compared to the first image posted. I think the lesson here is not to get in a hurry and maybe take a break from post-processing if you're not getting results you want. A miller Posted December 25, 2015 Share #8 Posted December 25, 2015 I agree that the second looks flat but it is a clean canvas from which gentle didging and burning can be made. I might start of by reducing the exposure by at least 1/4 of a stop and then slightly increasing the contrast. Not sure a whole lot more is needed
halo Posted December 25, 2015 Share #9 Posted December 25, 2015 Besides the technical discussion: the man seems not to be exhausted but annoyed beeing photographed without beeing asked before. Maybe I would not have shown this picture, maxbe would not have done it. I see the nice coincidence of the words on the t-shirt situated on Brooklyn Bridge, but maye I would have asked him to pose with his shirt on the bridge... lmans Posted December 28, 2015 Share #10 Posted December 28, 2015 I think the main point that is to be drawn by all of us is....is to take time. I too get in a rush at times ...step back, look at....rework a few times, step back once more.... etc etc.... Good point Charles
