Rain Day

So they have those fancy treaded tyres, oops, tires, ;) for pushing the cars around the paddock and then they don't drive in the wet?! :D

Maybe they should have a fleet of Subaru WRC cars on hand for those wet days and spread dirt on the turns!!!! I would pay money to see that!:D

btw, love the body-language in #1 , shoulders down everywhere.

Looks like a wimp-out to me :)

Having experienced 185mph (still 21mph to go) in a Bentley Conti GT on a dry, arrow-straight road and feeling "slightly uncomfortable" I hesitated to use the word "wimp". However, maxing out the Elan the other night after a carb rebuild (nearly 130 mph in a 35 year old plastic lightweight!!) felt focussed, yet somehow relaxing. :) Guess it's all relative.

Thanks Steve, Pete and Andy!

Steve, I shoot an MP and I just don't worry about it!!! (Inside joke, as Steve has a beautiful new M8 in his pocket!)

:)

Nope, these cars don't run on ovals in the rain; however, they do run road courses with the wet tires. Two reasons: the cars (on this particular track) sustain speeds over 220 mph for long periods and those hard, unforgiving concrete walls on each side of a narrow (50 feet on the straightaways) paved surface.

Schum'y is welcome to come try the Speedway oval any time he wants. In the past he said it was "too dangerous"! He has won five times on the USGP road course at Indy, though, so we know he loves us!

Thanks.

Allan
