Hello,

I will shortly be receiving my new Leica Q here in the UK.

I'm looking a buying a decent 64Gb SDXC card for the camera, keeping in mind compatibility with regard to maximum data transfers etc. Can members recommend a decent SDXC card that meets this criteria, personally in the past I have looked at Sandisk.

Thanks,

Nick

I am using a Sandisk Extreme Pro without problems. The Sandisk Extreme should also be fast enough. I have heard from other people using Transcend.

Just make sure it is a (speed-)class 10, on the card shown as a number within a C-shape.

There is also the UHS-class, which is displayed as a number within a kind of U-shape. The options here are 1 and 3, with 3 being the faster one.

I am not sure whether the Q can make use of the higher speed, but I would just go for UHS-class 3 to be future proof.

I share the same experience for the Q needs a fast card to write the data quickly enough. UHS 1 -class should be required, the normal Cards are too slow. The SanDisk Extreme Pro with UHS 1 works perfectly.

Unless you shoot thousands of images at a time I'd recommend several 8 or 16Gb cards over one 64Gb card.   When a card goes bad (and it does happen) it's less of a shock to your system to lose 1/8 or 1/4 of your images instead of 100%.

Besides that I also use Sandisk Extreme Pro cards.  I also have an Extreme Plus (still class 10) that I use, too.

Thanks for the comment, that's a good tip.

The Q can not take advantage of the faster UHS class 3 - it's optimized for the class 1.
