dkCambridgeshire Posted December 10, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) When visiting Holmewood Hall near Peterborough, I opened a door adjacent to the main entrance and discovered this Victorian mahogany panelled WC - no longer in use but an interesting artefact. The hall was rebuilt in 1874 when "The 'Buckingham' porcelain toilet bowl, made by Winser & Co., London, would have been installed. In its day this was likely a luxury 'little room' and is deserving of preservation. I imagine it would clean up quite nicely if the wood was stripped and refinished with a Victorian recipe oil varnish - and if the tiles were re-grouted Welcome, dear visitor!
