Outsourcing printing service that prints your photos

Recommended Posts

I've been using Bay Photo (bayphoto.com) and doing metal prints with them for a while.  They also do regular non-metal prints, canvas, etc, but my favorite results have been from their boxed glossy metal prints.  I have a few hanging around my apartment that, while expensive to print, enlarged exceptionally well, don't warp, and have a nice visual pop to it.

They print TIFFs and JPEGs (no RAW files) and they do color correction as one of their services.  Their tool to upload photos is garbage (like really really bad) and takes some time to wrap your head around it, but worth the effort.

I have also used Nations Photo with similar results, but Nations didn't always print the dimensions I wanted.

Thank you very much. I just went to their site, and they have the options I was looking for to print with Q files. I greatly appreciate your assistance!

I have been using White House Custom Colour for years as well.  I have heard good things about Bay Photo but WHCC has been so good for so long I've no reason to switch.  Bay may have this too, but one nice thing about WHCC is free 2-day shipping to my house (studio in their terms).  Also, they have gift boxes, etc. if you're servicing clients or family with gifts, etc.

Yes, their metal prints have impact. Not meant for every photo, of course. The tool for doing some photo edits online, BayROES, is indeed difficult to use - and avoidable. You don't want them to do color correction. You want to prepare your image, preferably in Adobe RGB color space, profile tagged, perhaps positioned and bordered to go onto a standard size (the custom sizes and their shipping are expensive).

Haven't used MetalMouth, but some customers like it. A one-man artisan shop, basically. He does not do color correction for color prints, but he prepares each black and white print carefully.
