Jeff S Posted November 9, 2015 Share #21 Posted November 9, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) All that's needed now is a Firmware update to disable the shutter button and the job is complete. Last I checked, there's already a ring around it with the first setting 'off'. Jeff
Advertisement Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Hi Jeff S, Take a look here M240: Help, how do I disable the LV button?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jeffry Abt Posted November 9, 2015 Share #22 Posted November 9, 2015 +1. Was implemented in July 2014. In camera menu, choose Light Metering Mode, Classic/LV disabled, that's all. According to the Leica leaflet « In this mode, only Classic light-metering is possible; the LV button is disabled to avoid the activation of live view by accident ». This was good to know...I disabled my live view. I have never used it. Good to be rid of it! (I use the EVF2 every once in a while and it still works perfectly when mounted and live view turned off)
bocaburger Posted November 9, 2015 Share #23 Posted November 9, 2015 I disabled the LV and video functions the same day I downloaded the FW last year. Back to a straightforward RF camera. Same here. Very conveniently, the EVF still works without needing to scroll back into menus to re-enable LV.
ramarren Posted November 9, 2015 Share #24 Posted November 9, 2015 All that's needed now is a Firmware update to disable the shutter button and the job is complete. Steve They have that on the SL ... It disables the shutter release for those shooting video so as to not accidentally interrupt the video recording. :-) The M is not a video recording tool with the same level of competence as the SL, so I have the video recording button disabled unless I want it. I do use the Live View system frequently (it's very handy to check for levels when the camera is on a tripod or stand) so I leave the LV button enabled.
