vladik Posted November 7, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted November 7, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does any one of you ladies and gentleman has any experience of using a Carl Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 135 mm f/2.0 ZF.2 (Nikon) on a Leica M (240). After an extensive research I favor this lens to be my 135 mm choice. It will be used on tripod for landscape photography. I know it is very heavy, but I will rig an additional support for it. Any comment from your personal experience would be most appreciated. Thank you, Vlad. Â

sdk Posted November 7, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted November 7, 2015 A support rail probably is a very good idea, and a good quality adapter like the Novoflex Nikon F lens to M Body adapter. Hejnar photo makes excellent lens rails and supports, see:Â http://www.hejnarphotostore.com/category-s/103.htmI love the Apo Sonar 135mm/2 on my Nikon D800E, but it's quite heavy so I have not used it on my Leica M-P. I have used the 100mm/2 Makro Planar on the M-P with EVF, but found the focussing accuracy wanting for handheld and monopod use. The 135mm is even more tricky to focus, so I suggest you bracket your focussing, shooting lots of frames with small tweaks of focus, to be sure of getting one good frame. Winedemonium Posted November 8, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted November 8, 2015 It's a great lens. I have it and I also have the 3.4/135 APO-Telyt-M. The latter is a more versatile choice for me, especially when hand-held. The former has a particular 3-D pop, and of course 1.5 stops more speed. It is quite special even at f/2. I use it with the Novoflex F to M adaptor and the EVF. It's a great lens, and was one of the last additions to this line of lenses prior to "Milvus". I have also used it hand-held on the M240 with results I've been happy with. Likewise the 85 Otus. I suspect the SL will be a more suitable set up, but if you are mainly going to use a tripod then the M won't offer a meaningful disadvantage compared to the SL. Hand-held is a very different story. I call my M+Novflex+EVF+ F lenses my FrankenM set up. It's awfully clunky.
Joakim Posted November 8, 2015 Share #4  Posted November 8, 2015 I agree it is a fantastic lens, I have used it some on my M 246 and enjoyed the results very much. EoinC Posted November 8, 2015 Share #5 Â Posted November 8, 2015 I'd forgotten about this, so I just stepped outside and took some evening shots at ISO 1600 with the Zeiss 135 f/2.0. It's very easy to use with the EVF on my M246... a019 by Eoin Christie, on Flickr
