I have 28cron ASPH which I like very much and it is my go to lens BUT whenever I have shot with the sun in the frame (for sunstar), most often I get purple blob which is next to impossible to remove in the post. Sometimes I do get lucky and I am able to correct as below but often I have to convert it to B&W.

(Here the purple blob was minimal)

I have wondered whether I should get 28mm Elmarit ASPH for general shooting instead. I would like to know whether this tiny lens is better in this respect compared to its elder brother.

The 28mm/2.8 Elmarit ASPH is not flare proof, but it's much more flare resistant than the 28mm Summicron. The 28mm/2.8 ZM is better still for flare control, but is bigger than the Elmarit, and not coded of course.

A rare example of my 28mm/2.8 showing flare when struck by bright light at an angle, see the left edge of the frame:

That looks like direct sunlight reflecting off the windshield of the third car in line, going to the left. Certainly, it flares out but I would expect it to. Any lens in that situation. Not even sure I would call it flare. Super hot spot maybe. Nice shot.
