Advertisement Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Hi jahnpack, Take a look here confused about lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robsteve Posted May 28, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted May 28, 2007 The M lenses are their actual focal lenght. The 50mm is a 50mm. When you shoot it on a M8, the crop is about 1.33, so the 50mm seems like a 67mm. If you want a 35mm field of view, you should probably start with one of the 28mm lenses. ptruman Posted May 28, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted May 28, 2007 The M8 has a 1.33x focal length factor, so a 50mm lens is the 35mm equivalent of a 67mm lens. The 35mm lens is the equivalent of 45mm (so near a 50mm lens) Â The simple way to work it out is to multiply the actual focal length by 1.33 to get the 35mm equivalent. Â Note that the same rule does not apply to the Digilux2 which has a much smaller sensor. Â Pete

robsteve Posted May 28, 2007 Share #5  Posted May 28, 2007 thanks a lot.I bought like to shoot portraits and street photography, what will be your advice.  and here are some of my works Antrepo  thanks again  Start with a 35mm or 50mm lens. You don't seem to need anything wider for what I saw on your web site.
lars_bergquist Posted May 28, 2007 Share #6  Posted May 28, 2007 thanks a lot.I bought like to shoot portraits and street photography, what will be your advice.  and here are some of my works Antrepo  thanks again  These are of course two different genres, street photography normally demanding a moderate wide angle lens, and portraits, as the word is often used, a short tele length (though wide lenses can be used for 'portraits with environment' too). You can try out different focal lengths with the aid of the frame preview lever (under your left forefinger) or in a shop, with actual lenses. But my starting advice is 28 and either 50 or 75 mm. Which 28, 50 or 75 mm lens you chose is a matter of cost. But used Leica lenses in good shape should not be sold short – not only the optical but also the mechanical quality is excellent. I have a dozen lenses, but only two were bought unused!  The old man from the Age of the Box Camera
carstenw Posted May 28, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted May 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) For the street, I would recommend a 28/2.8 Asph, or 35/2.0 IV or Asph, and for portraits perhaps the 75 Lux. The 50 Lux Asph would be another good choice. There are many others, of course, but those are rather good ones.
mikeadams Posted May 28, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted May 28, 2007 Very interesting collection!! When I came to the M8 I had only the M7 and a Summicron 35MM F2 ASPH, and I thought I would need other lenses, wider or more tele, but I have to say that my 35 (equal to a 47MM) is perfect for 90% of what I do, plus it is fast and small and well made. It is a perfect fit for the size of the M8. Â Mike http://www.mikeadams.org

35mm summicron f/2 asph. looks nice(compact) and economic than summilux. and one fstop is not important for me. I'll add other lenses as i have money.
