alan.y Posted November 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 1, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I read an review claiming slight improvement in autofocus and high iso performance from S2 to S 006. Is this true in your experience? Thank you.

jip Posted November 1, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 1, 2015 The S2/S2-P go from 160-1250 with a added ISO value of 80 (being digitally pulled, resulting in lower dynamic range, but saving highlights if you need the slower speed) The S006 goes from 100-1600 this is an additive on the lower and higher side. Also the noise ratio is slightly lower. On side note: The biggest improvement of the S006 over the S2/S2-P is the better viewfinder (more coverage) and the user interface (menu's etc) and the added Joystick on the back, with the fun extra of having build in GPS. darylgo Posted November 2, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 2, 2015 My s-e (006) has faster Af, the s2 is fast however the s-e has a crispness to the af that is not there in the s2. Accuracy is good on both, never had an issue with either, iirc Leica claims more accuracy with the s-e. The s-e controls are an improvement. Especially the joystick addition, playback navigation with the joystick is head and shoulders better than the repeated button pushing of the S2. kaikeong Posted November 3, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2015 Although S006 has a ISO usage up to 1600 but using any ISO higher then 800 is not good. The noise is bad. I tried out the Leica S007 with ISO up to 12600. Its great. Even when you shoot at 12600 ISO, the noise looks like film grain. Indeed very good. I think it is better then the S006 at ISO800. The noise looks good
erlingmm Posted November 3, 2015 Share #8 Posted November 3, 2015 I have just received my 007, and it i great until 3200, maybe higher, but 12500 sounds a bit high although the noise pattern is OK, maybe for BW, I have to test more. I have had both the S2 and the 006. The FW upgrade a year ago made autofocus much better on both cameras, with a slight edge to the 006. I would say the 006 is 1+ stop better in ISO than the S2, but the 007 is 2-3 stops better than 006 (not scientifically tested, just impression). I shot a whole wedding on the 006 at ISO800 with great results. I would say the 006 is still a great camera. 007 is faster both in terms of operation and ISO, but I would not hesitate to get a 006 at a decent price. I got a good price for mine, and chose to upgrade to 007.

Do you see any difference in terms of the sensor difference, i.e. CCD vs CMOS, in terms of colour or any other quality apart from high iso performance? On first impression, no, but I have not really tested landscape yet, and I do not have the LR upgrade for 007 yet (I hate Adobe for how they handle the standalone version of LR!)
