LUF on iPad

I like to use my iPad for browsing. I'm a member of a couple of forums (LUF the only photography forum that holds my interest).

I dont know know what it is, but since the new forum platform, the iPad has been rubbish for making posts. At first, I thought it was something changed in the iOS, but the problem seems to be LUF specific (still doesn't mean it isn't an Apple problem, I guess). I keep my software up to date.

Here's what's happening.

(1) when I start a new paragraph, the first word is no capitalised, and the first word, or last part of the first word is auto-repeated or just scrambled.

(2) when I edit, the little loop does not come up to enable me to correct a spelling mistake and often I can only select the start or end of a word, not the middle.

(3) once a word is highlighted in pink (unknown), I know it will be deleted - I can't tell the iPad it's what I want.

Ordinarily, I would assume it is an Apple problem; but I only have this issue on LUF. It means lots of re-editing. Is there some setting that's causing issues? Or a patch for iOS not run?

cheers

john

Can you use different browsers with the iPad? I had similar difficulties on various Android devices as well as on the iMac. I have changed to Opera (not only for that particular reason) and most forum functions run quite well since then.

This is being written in Safari on an iPad Mini 3 running iOS 9.1. Absolutely straightforward. No problems whatever.

No problem starting a new paragraph.

No problem editing text using the loupe or a double tap.

Very puzzling. In the light of my error-free experience, I would suspect a malfunction In your hardware or software but I have no idea what it might be. I always use the full version of the forum, not the mobile version. Are you doing the same?

I'm on 9.1 too and also use the full version in safari.

I would say say that the main problem I notice is starting new paragraphs and it's intermittent.

In in this particular (aha, it just did it!!)

and now it hasn't capitalised the a in and.

I see he issue often enough in other people's posts that I doubt it is a hardware issue.

as Dave says its intermittent, and spell checking can also be off and on.

i don't have the same issue on other websites.

Im not sure if there's another browser for iPad - I'm reluctant to try one.

This is post has been typed with no capitals and no apostrophes, if you see what I mean?

lots of editing, which is a pain and the curious word duplication on new paragraphs.

the he editing loop is also pretty much non-functioning (there you go at the start of the paragraph)

cheers

It is not clear whether you are receiving the mobile version from the server or not. Can you tell?

Is your browser trying to create HTML? That's often the case when you hit return and get double spacing. Typing shift-return fixes that for me.  I usually just let the paragraph wrap before creating a new paragraph with 'return'.

I'm sort of forced to use the mobile version on my iPhone unless I specifically select the old browser version each and every time I logon to the forum. Which is a pain! I don't particularly like the mobile version as it is sort of forum lite and doesn't work as well as the browser version. I really don't want to be forced to use it on my iPad as well.

Sorry, Pico. I should have said.

Im using the full website. I dislike the mobile version.

Should i I be using the mobile version?

John, I will ask my wife if I can use her iPad tomorrow. She's the iPad wizard and might be able to help us.
