chris_yu Posted October 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) As stated all my previous settings have gone, and the shutter counter has resetted back to L1000001. Is this normal, really weird to me???
Advertisement Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Hi chris_yu, Take a look here Problems with my M240 P after updated to firmware 2.0.2.5. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
douglas fry Posted October 23, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2015 Sounds normal, a firmware upgrade is a major change within the camera, all settings are wiped and replaced anew with updated functionality etc. It's so fundamental that it's not possible to retain settings just put them back manually, and enjoy the camera! chris_yu Posted October 23, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted October 23, 2015 Well, with my M9P even after any firmware updated the shutter count remained unchanged...

But we all know that firmware is not exactly Leica's strongest point ... Always backup your settings to SD card before updating the firmware.
Schrödinger's cat Posted October 23, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2015 When I updated my own M240 M-P everything was reset to factory defaults, including the exposure numbering. However I have only been required to upgrade this camera that one time. Based only on my reading of some posts by others, I am given to understand that with the 240 this is the expected behavior. Fair enough, so let me rephrase my reply: This horrible bug that could spoil the next shooting session after the firmware upgrade is the expected behavior for Leica. In that sense, the OP's camera is no more broken than any other M240 camera. I also think that, if after the firmware update you insert the SD card with your last shot, the numbering should resume as expected.
douglas fry Posted October 23, 2015 Share #7 Posted October 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would lay good money that my Sony's reset back to default after their firmware upgrade too, and my 1DX's (when I had them). I format the cards before each shoot so can't vouch for the numbering continuation, but I don't think it will as basically it is a 'factory fresh camera' in all but hardware. But need a few more M people to chime in with their experiences

As far as I remember, none of my Canon cameras have this bug.

Yes,you are right,I insisted the previous SD card and the shutter counting return back to the normal(continue on the previous counting, not starting from 1).Then,I put back the SD card that I used for the firmware updated, formatted it again and shot. Now the shutter counting for both cards are back to normal again.BTW,besides this weird encounter, everything is back to normal again.
