Go Figure Posted October 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) it does everything I want : has a readable shutter dial shows me the shutter speed even in A mode gives me the most beautiful uncluttered viewfinder view I have ever seen in the Digital Age but ... it's not a Rangefinder camera Maybe with some reverse engineering Leica Digital M's in the future will show the speeds in the viewfinder even in A mode Maybe Sony will implement some uncluttering features in the near future ? Advertisement Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Hi Go Figure, Take a look here hands on with the Q. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Go Figure Posted October 18, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted October 18, 2015 much more important ... it shows you the shutter speeds inside the viewfinder when shooting in M = manual mode ! Something we have not seen since the Leica CL and the M5 !!!
Go Figure Posted October 19, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted October 19, 2015 I honestly think that this "Q" is the boldest move into the right direction made by Leica since the 70ties. Historically the company has always axed great concepts such as the CL in favor of their core product, the "M" series. That is why I treat the Q as a design concept rather than anything else. Maybe in the future we can have Leica M's again that display shutter speed in viewfinder in "M" mode - as was the case with the M5 or the CL. Or EVF cameras that will allow customizations that will give us frame line free, symbol free , black edged and uncluttered viewfinder views. Both would be most welcome additions. The technology is there - we can build it !
Go Figure Posted October 19, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted October 19, 2015 It is really amazing to see how ticked off and overly protective the Sony crowd gets over the "Q".
@McLeica Posted October 19, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 19, 2015 As far as withering put downs go just stoke the fire and tell them that specs are all well and good but it's still a Sony.

Grumpy Old Man excerpt : " Jack Lemon: " a guy can dream, can't he ! " Am I missing something here? When in A mode, my M-E and M Monochrom (2012) both show the shutter speed in the viewfinder, as did the M8 I used to own and the M240 Leica loaned me while my M-E was in for sensor replacement. Ooopse, I thought A while reading over the letter M.
