pixeljohn22 Posted October 17, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted October 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi. Is there anyone who has used Capture One Pro for processing the Q raw files? I have done some basic stuff with the trial but wanted to get some feedback on how it is too use on a longer term. Thanks!
Advertisement Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Hi pixeljohn22, Take a look here Capture One For Q Raw Files. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sblitz Posted October 17, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted October 17, 2015 Yes works great. And you get the full 25mm edges when you crop. Have used the outside areas and they look fine
Big T Posted October 17, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted October 17, 2015 What sblitz said...... Â :-) Â I have been using CP1 for years with all manner of cameras. Â Like any product there is a huge array of tools available so focus on the ones that work for you. I use about 20% of its capabilities but they work exceptional well for me. Â Now using it with the Q DNG files and it works a treat.
serrada36 Posted October 18, 2015 Share #4 Â Posted October 18, 2015 Well, I did a little playing around the other day, comparing a few pieces of software. Â I looked at the same file(s) in lightroom, Capture One and Photo Mechanic. Â This is clearly my subjective opinion and in no way scientific. Â Lightroom looked the worst and took forever to import. Â Capture One looked significantly better and was WAY quicker to import. Â Photo Mechanic looked spectacular! Lightning fast to import. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to edit in Photo Mechanic. It really did render the files in a much better manner. Â Just my .02 which is worth about .
B-stand Posted October 18, 2015 Share #5 Â Posted October 18, 2015 I think in general with my Canon cameras C1 is a lot better than ACR. But I find that c1 has strange color temperature for the Q. And also no auto mode for color temp on the .dng file. Strange, I have that option for my canon files.
Peter Pan Posted October 19, 2015 Share #6 Â Posted October 19, 2015 Yes works great. And you get the full 25mm edges when you crop. Have used the outside areas and they look fine How to know that it is 25mm? I do have Capture One and see the outside areas, but how do we know that it is 25mm? sblitz Posted October 19, 2015 Share #7 Â Posted October 19, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't know for certain but in some of the threads when the Q came out it was said that the lens was larger and then software dropped the image to 25mm. I know this isn't very scientific but if you hunt around you will find the discussion I am referencing
sblitz Posted October 19, 2015 Share #8 Â Posted October 19, 2015 Sorry I mean 28mm
ramosa Posted November 22, 2015 Share #9  Posted November 22, 2015 All,  I moved from LR to Capture One a few months ago and am still figuring it out. Add into the mix a new Leica Q (which arrived Thursday!), and I have two questions. (I have searched about the Internet and can't seem to find answers.)  First, I use the Leica Q option to shoot raw + jpeg. (I wish there was an option for just raw.) Anyway, is there a way with Capture One to import just the raw images (and not the jpegs)?  Second, upon import, the images are TIFF 8 Bit Full Size (Adobe RGB). Is there a way that I can, instead, import TIFF 16 Bit Full Size (Adobe RGB)? Or is there an even better option than that?  Thanks for any assistance. Again, I have Googled about a good amount and can't seem to find solutions to these two questions.  R
ramosa Posted November 22, 2015 Share #10  Posted November 22, 2015 More information: If I look in Capture One, I see TIFF 8 Bit Full Size (Adobe RGB). But, if I look at the actual files, they are DNG 43.1 MB (as expected).
ramosa Posted November 22, 2015 Share #11 Â Posted November 22, 2015 By playing about, I answered my first question. I had previously been hiding jpegs via view/global filter. It was still importing raw and jpegs. But I found that, if you then hand select only the displayed raw images (per the prior hide), it then only imports the raw. That's a good enough approach until Leica, in a firmware update, creates an option to shoot only in raw.
mgrayson3 Posted November 22, 2015 Share #12 Â Posted November 22, 2015 Capture One (Mac 8.3.2) shows DNG for the Format of imported Q RAW files. I can set Output as 16bit TIFF with AdobeRGB or ProPhoto (or dozens of others) color space.
ramosa Posted November 22, 2015 Share #13 Â Posted November 22, 2015 Thanks for your input. It spurred me to experiment more with Capture One export--and know I see how it functions. Thanks again: it taught me and inspired me to learn more.
