seezee Posted October 12, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just bought a lot of gear from the estate of Tom Lee ("History Repeats"), including a Barnack IIIf and 3 MPs. One of them appears to be some special edition model — an "SGR" with a classic vulcanite covering and no meter, circa 2004. I can't find doodly-squat about this model on the internet; anyone know about it?

I don't know anything about "SGR" but your description (including the year) fits that of the MP Classic.
seezee Posted October 13, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted October 13, 2015 I don't know anything about "SGR" but your description (including the year) fits that of the MP Classic. That appears to be it. I didn't get the 50mm 'cron or the strap listed in that description, but I did get a black 50mm 'lux, as well as a chrome 35mm 'cron and a (different, not special edition) black 50mm 'cron. I wonder why the various serial number charts I found listed this as an SGR?
madNbad Posted October 13, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2015 It could be for the Schmidt Marketing Group.
seezee Posted October 14, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted October 14, 2015 It could be for the Schmidt Marketing Group. Even auf Deutsch, that would be SMG. Or possibly SVG/SAG, depending on which word for 'marketing' you use. How do you figure? GR for Gruppe?
madNbad Posted October 14, 2015 Share #7 Posted October 14, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could be. Serial number shows 500 MP Classic marked SGR were made and sold exclusively in the Asian market where Schmidt is a major distributor. No matter what it means, you found a real prize.
