kenball Posted September 30, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey Guys, I have had this odd problem with my beloved MM camera. The problem is intermittent so only happens infrequently so for instance if I am using it for the whole day it will happen one or two times. The problem is that the camera will fail to power up, so nothing happens, even when I turn it on / off. The problem typically happens when I have it on and I am not using it and it when it powers down after a few minutes of not being used. Then when I go to use it nothing happens, no power, no nothing. The only way I can get it to power back on / wake up is to completely remove the battery and put it back in. I have tried to get help from Leica but because the problem is difficult to replicate I have not been able to get any help. If I send it in the problem is not apparent. I am not sure what to do to solve this problem, perhaps if the problem happened more often it would be easier to get some help. Sadly the problem seems to happen when I want to use it the most so its been a real bummer. I have tried different memory cards, no dice and I have the most recent firmware. Any advise or if anyone has had this problem please let me know. Thanks Ken

Joakim Posted September 30, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2015 New (246) or old MM?
fiftyonepointsix Posted September 30, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2015 Have you tried a new battery? Have you tried to disable the auto-shutdown, basically set it to always remain powered up? I've not had this happen to my M Monochrom.
fiftyonepointsix Posted September 30, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 30, 2015 Just to add: this did happen to me with a DSLR, the battery pack was faulty. It had an internal short that caused it to intermittently stop supplying power.
kenball Posted October 1, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted October 1, 2015 Hey again, I have the "old" Monochrom. I have 3 batteries and while I have not tested each one the problem appears to be random vs batteries as far as I can tell. I will try disabling the auto shut down. fiftyonepointsix Posted October 1, 2015 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2015 Good luck with it- I hate intermittent electronic problems! Intermittent firmware problems are even more difficult to find. "7 out of 10Million operations"- been there, found that.
