Tips on hand-coding ZM25

You have to code it as 28mm if you have the "original" lens mount (28 frames in viewfinder) in order to match code with frame selector. If you replace the original mount with the one for 35mm Zeiss ZM lens to get 24 frame lines in viewfinder (like I and many other did) than you should code the lens as 24mm lens again to match code with frame lines.

I also suggest that you get your lens mount coded (you have to remove it first) by John Milich and do the magic with some model paint or nail polish. Handcoding with sharpie might do, but it rubs off so fast and leaves smudges on the camera mount and code sensor (my exeperience)...

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

Make sure whoever does the mount switching can heat uo the screws to brake the glue zeiss puts in there. Ohterwise you will end up with a broken screw. John Milch does a good job of putting in the 6 bit recesses. I just used black enamel for the black recesses after the mount change my 25 zeiss is recognized just fine as a 24 aspherical. Zeiss will only honor the warranty if they do the mount switch. That should tell us all something. David
