Advertisement Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Hi jackal, Take a look here street photography. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
palmskov Posted May 25, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2007 If not 35mm I would go for the 28mm cron...
j. borger Posted May 25, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 25, 2007 I agree with Palmskov ..... but this is very personal and depends on what your prefered style of streetshooting is. For me personally all your options are too wide ... I would go with 35mm on the M8 ... which already feels significant wider compared to a 50mm on full frame! martinb Posted May 25, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 25, 2007 Depends on which focal length you prefer? Sure, it's more practical to use a 28mm than a 21mm on the M8, but I prefer a 28mm equivalent so I would say the 21mm. I also own the 28mm ultron and it's a fantastic lens! MP3 Posted May 25, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2007 If only 1, 28 Cron. Better have 2, so I can choose 24 asph as day lens (lower contrast, great mid tones and color) and 28 Cron as avaliable light lens =)
woodyspedden Posted May 25, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2007 If only one the 24 (32mm equivalent on M8). This is one of Leica's all time best lenses. Somewhat intrudes into the viewfinder frame but I can live with that given the quality of the images. Woody
stunsworth Posted May 25, 2007 Share #7 Posted May 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) One lens 28, two lens 24/35. But it's a personal thing, there's no right or wrong answer.
glenerrolrd Posted May 25, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 25, 2007 24mm ..I tried this in NYC and 24 worked the best ....you have plenty of room to crop ..so I liked a little more in the image..
lensblur Posted May 25, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 25, 2007 28 cron for me. That should be around 35mm. At f/2 it's great.
johnkuo Posted May 25, 2007 Share #10 Posted May 25, 2007 Another vote for the 28 cron. It's really a great all around lens.
George Smiley Posted May 25, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 25, 2007 I would just pass on Street Photography, don't invest in anything yet, sit back and think what you would really like to achieve in photograhy, and if this is street, fine ... just get a 35mm of any sort and don't forget to hold the camera at an angle .... seems to be "in" these days
stunsworth Posted May 25, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 25, 2007 Tut, tut Jan, holding the camera at an angle was soooo 1980s. You must know you're supposed to use a Lomo or a Holga these days ;-) On a more serious note in 20-30 years time I guarantee that we'll find street photographs, and their representation of our times, far more interesting than the most technically perfect landscape or macro image.
