scook94 Posted September 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello forum, thought I'd pop in and say hello. For reasons I won't go into I recently got disillusioned with my Nikon D300 and decided I wanted something more fun, engaging and perhaps challenging to shoot with, so have just got my hands on a M-P (typ 240) and the Zeiss Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 lens. Hoping that the forum will be gentle with me if I ever have some dumb questions to ask! Regards, Steven.

wda Posted September 24, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 24, 2015 Welcome to the forum Steven. Unless you have used a rangefinder camera in the past, there is a learning curve despite seeming simplicity of operation. You have a very fine camera and you might like to peruse FAQ for background information. Plenty of users here to help you.
scook94 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted September 24, 2015 Thanks. Yeah, I had an old Kiev rangefinder that I got from that auction site a long time ago. It was something cheap and fun that I kept in the car for when I was driving about Scotland for work, often I was somewhere particularly scenic so had something handy to capture an image with. Of course now most of us have a smartphone for those purposes . However I always enjoyed that Kiev, and I guess that's what prompted the desire for a digital rangefinder. Once my Nikon gear has gone I still have a Canon Powershot, but looking at the pictures I've been taken recently I think the rangefinder will cover most eventualities (street/portraits/acrhitecure), just need to add a couple of lenses... Manoleica Posted September 24, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 24, 2015 Hi & Welcome, your choice of Leica is impeccable & a very nice lens.. I spent a lot of time in Scotland (living & working) in the mid 70's.. I too had a D300, a masterful piece of equipment, I gave it to my son and embarked on the Leica & lenses path.. I carry a D90 should I feel the need for DSLR. I'm sure we all on the Forum look forward to you posting images of Scotland.. Regards, L
