douglas fry Posted September 22, 2015 Share #1  Posted September 22, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) A little while ago I mentioned on here that I had dropped my 90mm APO Summicron and chipped the front lens element. I asked in Leica Mayfair London and they said it would take 3 months though probably till New Year to get it back again, Leica are behind on their repairs having moved factory...  They did say you would be better off sending it independently however and member jto555 or John suggested the direct approach and registering as a professional photographer. I got in touch with Customer Services at Leica Germany, sent my VAT and Company number with web site and received an email from Leica saying that as a full time photographer I receive an automatic 10% discount and turnaround of 1 week.  Great customer service and regular communication from Leica after the horror stories you can here on some forums, they would have preferred to have the M240 as well to match the two together but I shoot professionally nearly every day so this wasn't possible.  I trusted to luck and the lens focusses perfectly and 6 bit encoded as well.  Thank you Leica

wda Posted September 22, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted September 22, 2015 Excellent news and thanks for sharing. Your status gave you an advantage. Most members are probably amateurs who suffer longer turn-around times with very little communication. That is why the imbalance of reports on servicing. wattsy Posted September 22, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted September 22, 2015 Good to know that such service exists. Interesting (and disappointing) that it was a forum member rather than Leica Mayfair who pointed you in the right direction.
Numbers Posted September 22, 2015 Share #4  Posted September 22, 2015 I have found that dealing directly with Leica is much better and a true pleasure, even though my new dealer does an excellent job in terms of service. I'm currently having a lens adjusted. It is recently out of warranty but Leica CS chose to do it as a warranty repair without me asking. They arranged and payed the shipping and quoted a 10-15 working days turnaroundtime. In my experience, Leicas service is Second to NONE. It has been like that the few times I have needed a service. As an "amateur" you have an option to get in the fast lane service of one week turn around by paying a small fee. I choose so last time. I believe I payed something like around 100 euro and the turnaround time ended up being 3 days!  I have a lot of confidence in Leica!
