I've ordered my Leica Q and hope that I'll have it in my hands before too long. I'm now nesting in preparation, and thinking about ordering one or two bits and pieces (a grip, maybe, to start with). I've used the Lee Big Stopper in the past on a Canon SLR and liked the results. Given that the Q seems to have a maximum ss of 30 secs, it should be possible to get at least some decent longish exposures using Lee's Seven 5 system. Has anyone tried this out? I'd be grateful for your thoughts. That depends on what effect you want to achieve in your final image. In some cases < 30s works fine in others not. And also it depends on the conditions of the environment like windspeed wheather etc.. I personally use the big stopper for a couple of years now to get extreme long exposures for creating very nice atmospheric images. I've just been in scandinavia for vacation and landscape photography. I do a lot Long exposures in my photography and didn't use the Q a single time during my visit because of the 30s limitation. Only my trusty Fuji X-T1. I bought the Q on the day it has been released and if i had known about the 30s limitation i had never bought the camera. Leica praises the Q as the perfect tool for architecture, street and landscape photography. I think they have missed something... BTW, the EVF is also not fully usable for People wearing glasses. The whole Frame isn't visible to my eye. The Fuji X-T1 is doing here a better job as well... Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'll play around with the Q when it comes and will make the decision re. whether to go for the Lee set-up then - with various compromises, as you suggest. dangorange Posted September 21, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2015 Just wanted to add that as a wearer of glasses, I don't mind the EVF but I do find I need to shift a little to the left and right to see the whole frame. Not a perfect scenario but not a deal breaker for me personally. The 30 second limitation, I really hope Leica can fix this in firmware, I don't see why they would not be able to. If I had known about the limitation, I may not of jumped on the Q so fast, but now that I have it, I don't want to let it go, so I'm dealing. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
